The engine is a 306 cubic inch, SBF (short block forged) with aluminum heads, Cobra shortlock, 850 Holley carburetor, MSD ignition with a 7000rpm chip mounted under the passenger seat, aluminum radiator, long tube headers, and Flowmaster mufflers. Other modifications include sub frame connectors and aftermarket upper and lower control arms; 31 Spline Moser axles with 4.11 gears; 5 speed Borg Warner transmission, and a short throw shifter.

The owner says, Engine & World Aluminum ported heads, Erson 1.7 roller rockers, 1.8 intake, 1.6 exhaust, Custom grind Erson cam (not sure spec.), .20 overbore, Keith Black pistons (9.25:1 comp), stock crank, Manley pro-series timing chain, Chuck Nuytten Holley 650 Dual Feed Carb, Edelbrock Performer Manifold, Ford Motorsports Valve Covers, Promaster Coil, Mallory Billet Distributor with Electronic Advance, Mallory 13mm pro stock wires, Ford shorty headers with h-pipe and Dynomax dual exhaust. all ARP bolts, and 8.8 Rear end with 3.73 gears. Transmission is the stock AOD with Hughes 11"2600 Stall Converter and Hughes valve body kit . Radiator is an aluminum Motorcraft.

Starting in 1985 performance improvements to the V8 came only on the automatic M-code V8 engine, not the automatic version which used the 1984 M-code engine configuration. 35hp was added with a combination of stainless headers, low-friction roller tappets, high performance camshaft, and a more efficient accessory drive system controlling power to the air conditioner, power steering and alternator.
