Silver Featured Mustangs

There were a few Silver featured Mustang special models or unique Mustangs which have Silver exterior paint

.

Silver Mink 1966 Anniversary Limited Edition Mustang

Silver Mink is not a production exterior paint color for the Mustang. It was a common color for the 1962-63 Thunderbird. According to newspaper advertisements we found, the Silver Mink Limited Edition Mustang was part of a 1966 Millionth Anniversary Mustang sale offered in the Ohio - West Virginia area by at least two Ford dealerships. The ads say that all Mustangs were special ordered in Thunderbird Silver Mink and have black vinyl roofs. We think the Mustangs were all hardtops and featured several of the 1966 Sprint options.

Medium Gray 1967 Shelby Mustang

Medium Gray or Metallic Gray; although not officially silver, was a special named paint available only for the 1967 Shelby Mustang. It was the only 1967 Shelby Mustang color not offered on a Mustang in 1967; and in fact, never offered on a regular Mustang. Medium Gray was a Ford color named Charcoal Gray, was standard on the 1967 Lincoln or Thunderbird, and had a Ford paint code of M 1900. It is interesting to note that the 1997 Shelby Registry correctly identifies the Ford letter code and name of this color but incorrectly specifies M 1901 which is 1967 Silver Frost. How far back this error goes is uncertain, although it may be the reason for the light silver Eleanor 1967 Shelby used in the 2000 Nicolas Cage movie "Gone in Sixty Seconds".

Silver Frost 1967 Custom Shelby Mustang

Silver Frost is not an official 1967 Shelby Mustang color but was a standard paint available for the 1967 Mustang. With the white stripes, it is one good looking car. This one is owned by Emmanuel Theux from Monte-Carlo. Emmanuel hunted down this error with the help of Marti since his car was originally the darker Medium Gray.

Silver 1966 Super Valu's Silver Jubilee Jamboree Contest

Seven Silver Mustangs were given away in January 1967 for in the Super Value's Silver Jubilee Jamboree Contest. We have found newspaper advertisements for this contest, but no cars yet. We think don't think the cars were ordered with special options or had limited edition markings. We think they were all base-level, Silver Frost, hardtops. Plus we did find the names and locations of the seven lucky winners. Maybe someone will find one.

Eleanor modified 1967 Mustang

Eleanor Gray is officially Dupont 44490 Pepper Gray Metallic with stock black for the stripes. Eleanor was the name of the 1967 modified Shelby GT500 used by the 2000 movie "Gone in Sixty Seconds" starring Nicolas Cage. Modifications include: custom hood, a custom front air dam similar to the 1967 GT350R, custom side pipes, gas cap behind the top scoop, nitrous oxide, rack and pinion steering and suspension modifications, and custom wheels and tires. We are currently determining if this was a standard color for any manufacturer.

1977 Special Order Silver Paint

Silver was a special order paint in 1977. Customers could order it with many combinations of pin stripping and interior colors.

Pewter 1979 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car

In 1979, there was a limited number of about 11000 Pewter Indianapolis 500 Pace Car replicas built to commemorate the use of a Mustang at the 1979 Indianapolis 500 and the new Fox body style. All replica cars had a flip-up sunroof instead of a T-top which was used only on the real 1979 Pace Car. The replicas had the same striping, special unique pewter/black paint scheme, unique hood, three-slat grille, premium Recaro bucket seats, and a choice of turbo-four or regular V-8 engines. The Race-day decals were included for dealers to apply if the customer wished.

Silver 1982 Mustang GT

Silver was one of three colors offered when the Mustang GT returned in 1982 from being absent as a sports upgrade package since 1969. The GT offered the largest engine option in 1982 (a 157hp, 302ci, 5.0 liter V8) and body-colored front fascia, rear spoiler, and hood air scoop, cowl. The body color matching included the air vents between the hood and windshield, three-slot grille, headlight frames; which were all normally flat black. Black and Bright Red 1982 Mustang GTs were also offered.

Mineral Gray 2003 SVT Cobra Mustang

Satin Silver 2003 SVT Cobra Mustang

In 2003, Mineral Gray and Satin Silver was only available on the SVT Cobra Mustang. All other standard 2003 Mustang colors were also available on the SVT Cobra.

Silver 2003 10th Anniversary SVT Cobra Mustang

Coming only in Silver metallic, Black, and Torch Red; the 2003 Limited Edition 2003 10th Anniversary SVT Cobra received special carbon fiber patterned leather on the top of the steering wheel, carbon fiber leather on the shifter and hand brake, red window switch bezels, red seats inserts, red painted brake calipers all the way around, and big 17x9 inch 10th Anniversary wheels.

Silver Warriors In Pink 2008-09 Mustang

Silver is one of three colors available on the 2008-2009 Warriors In Pink special edition V6 coupe or convertible. Special pink accents include a low pink Mustang side stripe, pink ribbon behind the pony logo on the side, pink seat piping, and other pink stitching and accents. The Warriors In Pink option is also available in performance white, or black exterior paints.

Lee Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition

Painted in a unique silver shade, the Lee Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition customized Ford Mustang was introduced in late July of 2009. There were 45 cars built and have customized sunken headlights, custom grille, a regular or supercharged 4.6L V8, custom wheels, Ford Racing suspension, and custom interior. Galpin Ford of California did the customization work.

One Silver special model Mustang we are looking into is the 1985 Silver Mustang Twister II. We know it came in red and most likely white, but we don't know about silver.
