Judging from the advertisement and the 1967 Mustang colors, we believe all 7 Mustangs were silver frost and were hardtops. At the time, Super Valu was mainly in the upper Midwest. This ad was placed by Hood's Super Valu in the January 17th, 1967 edition of the Algona Upper Des Moines newspaper of Algona, Iowa. Who won these Mustang? This ad was placed by Rhodes Western Department Stores in the September 11th, 1966 edition of the Oakland Tribune of Oakland, California. Rhodes was a large, multifloor, department store in Oakland. It is now a Museum.

Don't wait - order now! Optional - choice of V8 engines, new 2-way cruise-o-matic Drive. And all this for $2451.46. We are the first to show you this series of newspaper articles from the Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio area featuring a newly discovered 1967 Mustang Limited Edition called the "Mustang Blazer". We found many advertisements in local newspapers from mid November through mid December 1966. All of them featured women; therefore, we think this limited edition Mustang was designed more for women. This advertisement was placed by several dealerships: Grantsville Motor Service, Gratton Ford, Shaffer Ford, Kowell Ford, and Jim Beamer Ford in the November 11th edition of the Cumberland Evening Times of Cumberland, Maryland. The Blazer option was also on the Ford Galaxie 500.

The colors may have been the three new revved-up shades of Tussy lipstick: Racy Pink, Shimmery Racy Pink Frosted, and Defroster. This ad is from the September 1966 edition of the Seventeen magazine. The date of this ad may explain the use of a 1966 Mustang in the photos.

(5 photos of a 1967 Mustang Indy Pacesetter Advertisement) This is an advertisement we found for the 1967 limited edition Indy Pacesetter special Mustang. This limited edition Mustang was sold only in the Indiana area and came with Scotchlite (reflective) stripes, special rear grille (white taillight panel with blue pin stripes), sporty louvered hood with integrated turn signals, sport tires with the optional V8, bucket seats, blue interior vinyl trim, full carpeting, and full wheel covers with whitewall tires. We believe they all came in Wimbledon White exterior paint. This ad was placed by Bathien Ford in the May 21st, 1967 edition of the Kokomo Tribune or Kokomo, Indiana. We have found many newspaper advertisements in the Indiana for the Indy Pacesetter, all in May, with the earliest one being May 1st, 1967. The most common ad was the 2nd and fourth in this grouping. We also found the general GM and Ford pacesetter sales for April and May of 1967. Indiana dealers we found with advertisements include: Banthien Ford of Kokomo, Don Ross Motors of Tipton, Johnson Ford of Logansport, Fred Welker Ford of Anderson, Gutwein Motors of Monon, and Dick Green Motors of Cambridge City. According to a Marti Report on an owner's Indy Pacesetter, 324 where order by Allen County Motors of Fort Wayne, Indiana. We think all the dealers in the area then got them from Allen Motors.
(2 photos of a 1967 Mustang Branded Hardtop Advertisement) This is a newspaper advertisement we found for a used 1967 Branded Special Mustang hardtop at Weigand Ford in the April 5th, 1968 edition of The Daily Telegram of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The Branded Special consisted of a dealer added vinyl top with Branded emblem just behind the rear quarter window along with other dealer ordered options. They were options added to used 65-68 Mustang - in this case a V8 engine, automatic transmission, radio, special tires, and of course the vinyl roof. The Branded vinyl roof has a paisley pattern. Most paisley vinyl roofs were dark but had a gray or other dark color geometric pattern.

(1 photo of a 1967 Pink Mustang Hardtop Advertisement) This is a contest that Dole ran in 1966. It was called the Dole Pink Mustang Sweepstakes. You could win a stable of pink Mustang. Actually you could win four pink* Mustangs. Two real ones for the parents and two Mustang Junior battery operated cars for the kids. This ad was found in the Des Moines Sunday Register comics section. Dole had a new product they wanted people to try, Pineapple Pink Grapefruit Juice - Drink. The bottom of the ad says "* or your choice of colors available". Does anyone out there know if these contest cars still exist? Did the contest winner pick pink Mustangs? Check out the runner up prizes. They are giving away two RCA entertainment centers. It's an old console TV and Stereo Hi-Fi setup - all in one. Cool! The fifth prizes are can openers! Probably to open the drink cans.

Several dealers participated and featured white side wall tires, de luxe wheel covers, wheel lip moldings, one of three special colors (Special T-Bird Diamond Green, Candyapple Red, or Springtime Yellow), rocker panel mouldings, door edge guards, louvered GT hood with turn-signal indicators, and knitted vinyl interior. This is part of an ad placed by Coopers Ford of Baie d'Urfe in the March 16, 1967 edition of the South Shore News of Pierrefonds (now part of Montreal), Quebec, Canada. The full ad is shown on the next page.

We have found several versions of this advertisement published in the Chicagoland area on December 8th, 1966. It says, Announcing a new Limited Edition Mustang. Only 400 people in the USA will be driving one of these special Mustangs (and they'll all be in the Chicagoland Area). Mustang Hardtop - Limited Edition 400, built for the Chicagoland area only! Specially painted in a distinctive, deep metallic gold. Special high-style trim and deluxe equipment includes: new automatic/manual SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic, radio, deluxe wheel covers, "breather" hood louvers with turn signal indicators, bright-metal moldings at wheel cutouts and rear deck lid, Limited Edition 400 emblem on fender, personal nameplate on instrument panel. Order now - when these are gone there won't be any more! We are not sure what the Limited Edition 400 fender emblem looks like but there is a drawing of the instrument panel nameplate. We found this ad for Bradshaw Ford in the December 8th, 1966, edition of the Blue Island Sun-Standard of Blue Island, Illinois. Blue Island is in the south part of Chicago. We've never heard of this special model before. If anyone has more information, let us know.

(2 photos of a 1967 Mustang Lone Star Limited Hardtop Advertisement) It's here! A new Texas Ford Dealer exclusive! Special Limited-Edition Mustang... says a Ford advertisement in the May 11th, 1967, edition of The Gilmer Mirror newspaper of Gilmer, Texas. It says,
This specially built, custom-equipped Mustang Hardtop is a Lone Star exclusive. Texas Ford Dealers have ordered all they can get - and you still won't see many around because this is a special limited-production model. Check the extras you get - all included in the special low price! GT hood with built-in turn signal indicators, rocker panel moldings, wheel covers, chromed air cleaner, whitewalls, vinyl-covered shift lever (with Cruise-O-Matic option), Lone Star Limited emblem. This ad was placed by the Long Motor Company. The same ad was placed by Bill Utter Ford in the April 14th, 1967, edition of the Denton Record-Chronicle newspaper in Denton, Texas.
(7 photos of a 1967 Mustang Centennial Special Hardtop Advertisement) This is one of two advertisements we found for the Nebraska Centennial Special Hardtop Sports Sprint edition 1967 Mustang which included one of four "Special Centennial colors", 6-cylinder engine, white sidewall tires, full wheel covers, functional louvered hood, rocker panel moldings, chrome air cleaner, decal and vinyl covered shift lever (for automatic transmissions), and optional luggage rack. The four "Special Centennial colors" are named Centennial Blue, Lincoln Green, Summer Wheat, and Big Red. The advertisement shown has parts of a full page by O'Shea-Rogers Motor Co in the March 26th 1967 edition of the Lincoln Star Sun. See the third image for the complete ad. We have not found one of these Mustang's yet but would expect them to have a 6 digit DSO code staring with a 54 for the Omaha Nebraska ordering district and a blank paint code.

It starts off, "Carroll Shelby designed his Cobra GT to go like it looks." It talks about the two engine offerings. It talks about 130mph rated nylon tires. In one shot they show a model with her head against the rear bumper - can you hear the ocean?

This is a Ford ad where dealerships could insert their name and address at the bottom. We found this ad for the Cardinal Special Mustang at Petersburg Motor Company in the March 22nd, 1968, edition of The Progress-Index of Petersburg, Virginia. The photo shows the rooftop Cardinal Special emblem, flip-open chromed gas cap, black interior, GT stripe, wheel lip moldings, wheel covers, 200ci inline six cylinder engine, and special paint (Candyapple Red or possibly Wimbledon White).
(3 photos of a 1968 Mustang Selig Swinger Hardtop Advertisement) One of our viewers found this advertisement for a local dealer limited edition Mustang called the Selig Swinger. Knippel Selig is a dealer from Milwaukee who in 1968 put together a dealer optioned and probably dealer installed special which included color keyed vinyl roof, five D-70 4 ply nylon wide oval whitewall tires, "swinging" C side stripes, louvered hood with integrated turn signals, and steel-styled wheel covers.
