(from page 3 of the 1965 Collection) Here are some additional shots of John's Twilight Turquoise 1965 Mustang GT hardtop from the previous owner. The GT has the extra yellow driving lights in the front grille. Under the hood is the big 225hp V8 engine.

(from page 3 of the 1965 Collection) You can see the rear window defroster real well in this shot. As far as I can tell, this was not an option in 1965. The rear window defogger (a blower unit) was a new option on the Mustang in 1968. The rear window defroster (heated wire units) was introduced as an option on the Mustang in 1971.

(from page 4 of the 1965 Collection) Silver Blue 1965 Mustang convertible with the code C - 289 cubic inch engine with barrel carburetor and Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission.

(from page 4 of the 1965 Collection) Silver Blue 1965 Mustang convertible, rear end view. Hey, I know this place! I got a hotel last year just at the upper right end of this road.

(from page 4 of the 1965 Collection) Caspian Blue 1965 Mustang fastback with the C code 289ci 4-barrel engine and a five-speed (non original) manual transmission.

(from page 4 of the 1965 Collection) Caspian Blue 1965 Mustang fastback, rear end view. The 1965 Mustang had a pretty bare looking rear end. The only Mustang signage was on the gas cap. And in 1965 this was the real gas cap. This particular Mustang doesn't have the rear backup (or reverse) lights. Compare to this 1965 Mustang with reverse lights. Looks like another Mustang under restoration in the garage - off to the right. Might be a 1970.

(from page 5 of the 1965 Collection) Sean Mattingly use to own this Dynasty Green 1965 Mustang hardtop. It has standard wheel covers and 289ci V8 engine.

(from page 5 of the 1965 Collection) Carson Roberts found this 1965 Mustang hardtop in a shed with hay and chickens on it. Here's how it looked after washing it off. Not bad! Carson adds, "The floor pans were a little weak. It was leaking front and back windows seals. It had two rust spots in the floor; the left was because of brake fluid, and the right was because the heater core leaking. The guy I got it from had it for 12 years. The guy before him painted and fixed it up. The car looked good for it being a 25 footer paint job."

(from page 6 of the 1965 Collection) Another shot of Carson's find! Carson continues, "When we got it out, it started right up. It had a 289 with top loader 4-speed in it. The suspension was shot. All new was put back on; 5-leaf rear suspension, front end upper and lower control arms, etc."

(from page 6 of the 1965 Collection) Carson's Mustang is in the paint both receiving a coat of blue paint. It's the Grabber Blue from the 2009 and 2010 Mustangs. The openings are masked off with paper and tape. Notice how the masking goes right down to the floor. This is so that overspray has no chance to get to the underside of the car.

(from page 6 of the 1965 Collection) The body is now Grabber Blue. The front inner fenders and frame are flat black.

(from page 6 of the 1965 Collection) Carson Roberts is putting back together his Mustang after new paint. The front bumper, grille, parking lights, and headlights are installed.

(from page 6 of the 1965 Collection) The rear bumper, tail lights, reverse lights, gas cap, and trunk lock are installed.

(from page 6 of the 1965 Collection) Carson has his Grabber Blue 1965 Mustang hardtop all put back together.

(from page 6 of the 1965 Collection) The interior is in. The car came out great!
