The MPG Mustang II requires the 2.3L 4-cylinder engine with 3.18:1 rear axle ratio to get the highest gas mileage. This car is truly the most basic with no bodyside molding, fancy wheels, or color matched side mirrors. All 1976 models did come with fog lamps and chrome grille. Also shown here is a White 1976 Stallion optioned Mustang II coupe with black exterior accents and Stallion fender badge.

The owner has this story to share, "Growing up, my Dad had always wanted to purchase a Mustang. He had taken early retirement at 60 years old and seriously started looking at a Mustang as his next car of choice. He looked at many but the little red Mustang II caught his eye and he convinced my Mom that the little red girl was the one. He couldn't wait to call me and tell me that he had purchased it. Dad came over to my apartment, picked me up and took me over to the house to see her. My Dad loved his new car but didn't have an opportunity to drive it for very long as he had a stroke and couldn't drive any more. When ever he had to go to the doctor, I made sure to take him in his red jewel. Although he
couldn't drive he would have an opportunity to be in it. He never regained his health and before he passed away he signed his very special car to me. I drove my Dad's car every day to work until three years ago until she was hurting for a lot more TLC than I could continue to give her. My husband promised to restore her for me and I must admit that I wasn't totally convinced that he would do it as it was a large undertaking. I only expected for him to get the car running again, but as you can see he has gone far beyond that and restored her back to original condition. The car I loved driving for many years that held tremendous amount of sentimental value for me, is back on the road again and looking and running pretty sweet. I'm sure my Dad would have been pretty proud of how she looks."

Lisa tells us more, "I fell in love with this car in 1975 when my neighbor purchased a 1974 coupe. At a local car cruise one night, one pulled in and it was for sale. Well, as the story goes, my husband and I bought it. It needed a lot of work! My little Plain Jane 2+2 4-cylinder, 4-speed red Mustang turned into a hot powerful V-8 smoking Cobra. It gets a lot of attention wherever we go. People are always asking if my husband paints for a living, and I say 'No, just little red Mustangs that need resurrected!' We drive my little darling every chance we get. After 42 years, I have the car of my dreams"

(3 photos of a 1980 Bright Red Mustang Ghia Coupe) Bright Red 1980 Mustang Ghia notchback owned by Kent Roberts from Abbotsford, BC Canada. It has the optional white vinyl carriage top. Kent tells us, "I picked this car up from the original owner in July 2010. The car is in mint and original condition. The car is powered by a 255 V8. The car did come with the 255 originally, but the engine grenaded in 1996 and was replaced with a rebuilt 255. This car is a west coast original, and is even equipped with its original windshield, the owners manuals, warranty cards, and all the service manuals. The carriage top is in excellent condition and the car is wearing 80% of its original red paint. Its a A/C delete car with cruise, power locks, tilt, premium sound system, and rear defogger."
(4 photos of a 1980 Bright Red Mustang Ghia Hatchback) Bright Red 1980 Mustang Ghia hatchback owned by Dwayne McCracken from Washington, Missouri. Dwayne adds, "I bought this Mustang Ghia in 2005. I seen it and I liked the red with all of the chrome on it. When I lifted the hood I knew I wanted it. It was clean and had almost as much chrome on it as the exterior. I just recently found out it was a special 1980 Mustang model. It is a Ghia, a luxury package Ford offered that year. The interior and exterior had been stripped if any evidence of the Ghia model on it. The previous owner had replaced the emblems with Cobra decals and emblems. I found out when I ran the VIN number on Mustang Attitude's, VIN number decoder. I have been trying to replace all of the missing Ghia emblems whenever I can find them. This car came out of the factory with a 255 V8 automatic transmission. I think that was Ford's biggest mistake in 1980. As people bought them, they were disappointed in the lack of power and the poor performance of the 255 engine. Luxury or not the 1980 Ghia was doomed from the beginning. As about everyone who as ever owned this car did, the previous owner had the 255 bored to a 302, When I bought it all of the receipts from everything from emblems to mechanical had been left in the console with the original owners manual. He spent much more on changing it than it was worth at the time. It also came with two boxes of trophies from car shows. I haven't driven it much in the last 5-6 years. It has Historical plates on it and I just recently took an interest in again. It still needs a new paint job but the engine only has 41,000 on it and runs great. Getting it back in shape after letting it sit for so long is a project that will keep me busy for awhile. Since I retired two years ago, I
definitely have the time. I wouldn't consider selling it because I love these older models and Mustangs have always been my favorite cars. This 1980 joins a 1986 GT hatchback and a 2003 GT coupe."
