The engine is a 302ci V8. Dana adds, "We had looked for about six months for a car when I found this one online for sale in Nashville, Tennessee . It was being used for 1/4 mile track racing. I think that is what saved the car as it never saw the road or bad weather. It has all original sheet metal and floor pans. We spent two years restoring and updating all the mechanicals and paint. Now we just enjoy showing and driving it."

I responded that I had a 99 Ford F150 extended cab that got 20mpg and they went for it. I did not like the faded Sautern Gold color, so I did the $50 Rustoleum paint job (from a 2007 Hot Rod Magazine article) and purchased 65 hubcap spinners from eBay."

Had her for one year so far. She is a driver. Had one just like it in 1968, till someone brought their car through my passenger side. I sat on the curb and cried. I have had several more 65 and 66s through the years but nothing like this. I bought it turn key, but had to add on to make it mine. I am 64 years old and feel like a kid when we out in it. (2 photos of a 1966 Red Mustang Hardtop) Check out these vintage photos of a red 1966 Mustang hardtop in the United Kingdom! The owner is wondering if it is still around. It was re-built it in 1975-6 and sold it in late 1977. It had Pontiac wheel trims on. Looks like Hurst wheels. It also had louvered exhaust megaphone pipe ends with copper pipes between the Rover SDI back boxes and the ends. The owner says, "42 cars & 14 bikes later - she was my favorite build! PLEASE ring me. MIGHT be the ONLY car to overtake a police car that was on the hard shoulder while I was in the AIR, coming back from Santa Pod Raceway (Sorry Officer)."

(3 photos of a 1966 Candy Apple Red Mustang Hardtop) This custom 1966 Mustang hardtop racer is owned by Brad Cross. He says, "This has a modified 289, 4 speed. Competition suspension and brakes. Set up to meet SCCA vintage safety standards. I have ran this car since 1993, shifts at 8,400 rpm under track conditions and have never had any issues with this hard charging solid roller power plant, minus some wiring and many carb changes. Using the R model front end to move air where needed with a cowl hood to achieve max efficiency. Interior is a stock look, minus roll bar, belts and radio delete. I still utilize the factory shifter. I do drive short runs on the road but between the kidney killer suspension and 4 to 6 miles a gallon, it's a little tough but I FREAKING LOVE IT."
