(9 photos of a 1964 Prairie Bronze Mustang Convertible) This is one of the first 100 production Mustangs built in the San Jose plant! The door data tag says it was scheduled for build on July 13th 1964 and the serial build number in the VIN is less than 100. Mary Combs of Centralia Washington owns this beautifully restored Prairie Bronze 1964 Mustang convertible with a 289ci V8 under the hood. It was in terrible condition when Mary got the car in 2005. See the last set of photos for some of the restoration which used all original parts. We photographed Mary's car at the 2010 MCA Grand Nationals held in Bellevue, Washington.

(7 photos of a 1968 Sunlit Gold Mustang Golden Nugget Special Hardtop) I photographed this Sunlit Gold 1968 Golden Nugget Special at the 2011 Mustang Round-up car show in Bellevue, Washington. It was actually one of two Golden Nugget Specials at the show. 525 of these were built for a special promotion in the Seattle area. Included in the package was a golden plaque for the dash panel bearing the customer's name, Sunlit Gold paint, black vinyl top, black hood panels, black stripe, whitewalls, and sport wheel covers. Checkout the Seattle Times advertisement I found on this special promotion.

It has the standard 12 slot argent styled wheels, white side stripe, side scoops with GT/CS graphics, California Special rear fender graphic, rear wing, and 289ci V8 engine. The C-code 289ci V8 was the most common engine for the 1968 GT/CS but others ordered included the T (200ci), J (302ci), X (290ci), S (390ci), and the R (428ci) code engines. Side stripes came in white, black, red, or metallic blue depending on the main exterior color. Most of the grilles included Lucas fog lamps but some did receive lamps manufactured by Marchal. 2.79:1 was the most common rear axle ratio but others included the 2.75:1, 3.00:1, 3.20:1, 3.23:1, and the 3.50:1. The GT California Special was a California special promotion but only about 8 percent of the cars was ordered with the GT option which included dual exhaust with quad exhaust tips, argent slotted steel wheels with GT center caps, and heavy duty front and rear spring. All other standard 1968 GT options were not used.

(5 photos of a 1968 Sunlit Gold Mustang Golden Nugget Special Hardtop) This is an authentic 1968 Limited Edition 'Gold Nugget Special'
promotional car for the Pacific Northwest dealerships. One of only 481
actually produced of the scheduled 525 to be offered through the
promotion. The Golden Nugget Mustang has a DSO# 741111 on the door
data plate, with the 1111 indicating the Special Order Unit as such.
It was a promotion that was offered at no additional charge, however
it could not be ordered. According to the promotion details and first
hand information from an original owner, each Ford Dealership in the
Pacific Northwest was to receive one Gold Nugget Special and the first
person who came in wanting to by it was the lucky person. It was sold
with a custom commemorative dash plaque with the original purchaser's
name and a simulated gold nugget affixed. All of the Gold Nugget
Mustangs were only available in the Coupe model, with Sunlit Gold
exterior paint, hood blackout stripes, and a black vinyl top with
either black or nugget gold interior. They were produced with varying
combinations of engines, transmissions and other available options.
This particular Gold Nugget Mustang has the original 200ci inline 6cyl
engine and 3spd manual transmission. It runs and drives excellent and
was driven on a 1200 mile road trip earlier this year with no issues.
It is currently driven several times a month and never has any issues
starting right up. It is virtually a rust free car and besides needing
paint it needs little else to be a great driver/show car. The interior
is in nearly perfect condition. Here is your chance to get a truely
limited production Mustang. There is a Gold Nugget Registry that has
been formed and to date less than two dozen have been confirmed to
still be in existence with less than a dozen actually registered. The
well known California Special had a production run of more than 4100
being built. The Gold Nugget Special was equal to approximately 10% of
that total making it a more unique and rare Mustang than the
California Special. I am asking 6250.00 and I may consider partial
trades. If you're looking for something different and special, this is
the Mustang for you. Feel free to email or call any time. Thanks, Jeff
