The 302R is limited to 50 units and is considered a Ford racing option available for $79K. Some of the features include the 2011 Mustang 302ci GT engine rated at 412hp, a seam-welded body, roll cage, safety harness, data acquisition system, race suspension, special tires, and side stripes. It was designed to honor the 40th anniversary of Parnelli Jones' 1970 Trans-Am championship (the GM, Pontiac, Trans Am was named after this racing series with much controversy at the time).

A special one will actually pace the 2010 Daytona 500 race. Modifications from the stock GT include: special Ford Racing suspension kit, strut tower brace, and mufflers; special 19-inch wheels with an upgraded Brembo brake kit; and a modified front valance. This version was built to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the first Shelby Mustang - the 1965 Shelby GT-350. This Shelby conversion will be done at the Shelby shop as requested by a new 2011 Mustang GT owner. They will all be Performance White with blue stripes. Externally, the conversion consists of a new front and rear fascia, front splitter, functional hood scoop, tail light trim, rear deck lid filler panel, center exhaust exit, and Cragar wheels. Performance-wise, the conversion adds a Ford Racing supercharger, Ford Racing suspension system, Baer brakes on all four corners, and a Borla exhaust system. The conversion will cost $33,995 over the cost of the GT base car!
