Two pages on the Mustang II Mach 1, standard hatchback, and standard coupe. The text says, The Ford Mustang II has three outstanding virtues that are just right now. The economy of a small size car. A surprisingly high standard of luxury. (A pleasant surprise, though.) And painstaking workmanship that you just won't find in any other small car. In all, there are 4 models to chose from - the Hardtop, the 3-door 2+2, the Mach 1 and the Ghia. (For the full story of the gorgeous Ghia just turn back to the previous two pages.) The basic 4-passenger Hardtop is the lowest-priced, easiest to own, sporty, personal Mustang II. Besides the clean, classical styling (and that's well worth lingering over for a minute or two), there are steel belt radial ply tires; lush, plush interior-all-vinyl bucket seats with full-width headrests; deluxe door panels; padded arm rests; thick colour-keyed cut-pile carpeting; an instrument panel that includes a 6,000 rpm tachometer, ammeter fuel, and temperature gauges; a colour-keyed steering wheel; burled walnut wood tone trim. The 4-speed manual gearbox linking to the economical-but lively - 2.8 litre engine is standard. Not bad for starters. Then there's the Mustang II Mach 1. It looks like a racer - but it's sensibly budget-minded too. The mach 1 has lots of exciting touches. Like trim rings with styled steel wheels. Fuel-saving steel belt radials. Black lower bodyside paint. Black vinyl insert bodyside moulding. Black lower bumpers. Black bonnet lid tape stripe. Twin wing mirrors. Really racy. And a pretty smooth as well. Standard on the Mach 1 is the economical 2.8 litre V6 engine with 4-speed manual gear box. But available on every Mustang II is an optional power pack: 4,900 cc V8 engine teamed with Automatic Transmission, Power Steering and Power Braking system. The Mustang II 3-door 2+2 Combines sporty good looks with some of the useful extra space of station wagon. The big rear door swings up easily. The rear seat folds down easily. The result? Easy access to 1.82 m of floor length and 738 litres of carrying capacity. Some other features worth feasting your eye on are the special fastback styling, the wheel lip mouldings, the sporty styled steel wheels. You can take it for granted, too, that the 2+2, like the Hardtop, doesn't hold back on interior luxury. And on the road, its natural habitat, the 2.8 litre Mustang engine just loves to let go and go. (But relax, it never gets greedy on fuel).
