The Saleen Mustang of 1988 had few updates from the previous year. It featured Monroe shock absorbers, a Pioneer sound system, and a Saleen 170 speedo/tach. The radar detector was no longer included as standard equipment. All Saleens were based on LX Mustang models with hatchback, coupe, or convertible body styles. They all came with factory 5.0L V8 engines, five-speed manual transmission, 3.08 or 3.55 rear, and 225/60VR-15 tires.
