In 1989, Saleen Mustang introduced some minor updates to its conversion gear, along with a new SSC hatchback model. The standard features included a premium Pioneer audio system, General XP-200V tires, Monroe shocks, Saleen aerodynamic body kit, Hurst shifter, FloFit sport seats, Momo steering wheel, and a 170mph speedometer. Buyers also received a Saleen Mustang jacket. The SSC model had a modified E-code 5.0L engine that delivered 292hp with enhanced components such as a larger throttle body, intake plenum, cylinder head ports, rocker arm ratios, cooling system, headers, and mufflers. The SSCs were all white with gray/white interiors.
