Ford dealers ordered 1991 Mustang LX models with 5.0L engines and manual transmissions and sent them to Saleen conversion facilities. There were two facilities: one in Long Beach, California for the SC model and one in St. Louis, Missouri for the standard models. The conversion added various features to the Mustangs, such as: a Racecraft suspension system, a Pioneer stereo system, American Racing rims with XP-2000Z tires, a Saleen body kit, a 170 mph speedometer, a leather shift knob, a Hurst shifter, sport seats, and a Saleen jacket. The Racecraft suspension system improved the handling of the Mustangs by using variable rate coil springs, Monroe Formula GP gas shocks, custom strut bearings, and urethane sway bar.
