Coupe

Convertible

The 1995 Mustang had the same two body styles as the previous year: a coupe and a convertible. But it also introduced two special models: the GTS and the Cobra R. The GTS had a V8 engine, transmission, and rear axle from the GT model, as well as 16.5 inch sport wheels. The Cobra R was a rare and powerful version that only came in Crystal White. It had a 5.4L racing V8 engine with 300hp and improved handling. Some of the 1995 convertibles also had the option of a hardtop.

GTS Options Package
Ford built a stripped down version of their Mustang GT in 1995. It was called the GTS. The GTS named option was only available in 1995. It continued as the 248A package through 1998. The GTS was a the powertrain of a GT with the characteristics of the Base V6 model. They came without spoilers or fog lamps. They had the same interior as the V6 except for the instruments. They did have the GT badging on the fenders and embossed into the rear bumper. A total of 6370 units were built in 1995.

Mustang GT
The 1995 Mustang GT received the 215hp 5.0L V8 engine, lower front valance integrated fog lamps, rear spoiler, roomier seats, standard anti-lock brakes, and a four-wheel disc brake system. The only way to get a 1995 Canary Yellow or 1995 Sapphire Blue Mustang was to buy a Mustang GT. Canary Yellow and Blue were two colors reserved only for the Mustang GT coupe or Mustang GT convertible.

Mustang Cobra
The 1995 SVT Cobra came with the 240hp (at 4800rpm), 302 cubic inch (5.0 liter), electronic fuel injected, V8 engine; a unique front fascia; Cobra emblems, and only came in black, red, or white. See our 1995 SVT Cobra Data Explorer for more information.

SVT Cobra R
In 1995, Ford made 250 Cobra R coupes. The huge 5.8L (351 cubic inch) V8 is so big that the standard hood did not work. A special taller fiberglass hood was created. This baby was built for racing. It has a factory 20-gallon fuel cell, a engine oil cooler, and a power steering cooler. All Cobra R Mustangs were painted Crystal White with tan colored interiors. See our 1995 SVT Cobra Data Explorer for more information.

Saleen Mustang
The 1995 Saleen Mustang offered two models: the S-351 and the supercharged SR. The S-351 models had their V6 and V8 engines removed and a large Saleen 351ci V8 put in its place. The 480hp Supercharged SR models were again produced for racing. Suspension modes included: progressive-rate front and rear coil springs; Racecraft shocks, and struts urethane swaybar bushings; strut tower braces, four-wheel disc five-lug brakes; and massive 18 inch wheels. Options included upgraded sound system, twin gauge pod, sports bar and tonneau for the convertible, Recaro racing seats, and 3.55 rear axle. See our 1995 Saleen Data Explorer for more information.

Roush Mustang
The 1995 Roush Mustang was one of the first years of this special edition although the parts could be added to the 1994 Mustang as well. From 1995 through 1997 the Roush performance parts were added by dealers and third parties. In 1997, Roush started to perform the upgrades themselves. In 1995, the Roush came in three levels: the mostly cosmetic Stage 1, the Stage 2 with handling performance upgrades, and the Stage 3 with engine power upgrades. There was also a ported aluminum Ford GT40 heads option for the Stage 3. Prices were listed as $3,185 for the Stage 1 (air dam, wing, skirts, valance panel, 17 inch wheels, graphics), +$2,105 for the Stage 2 (springs, shocks, antiroll bars, exhaust), and +$2,783 for the Stage 3 (94hp upgrade (309hp total) to the 5.0L V8, bolt-on intake manifold, cowl induction hood). Each stage required purchase of the lower ones.
