In 2005, Saleen offered three different models of the Mustang GT with the new body style: the base S-281, the supercharged S-281 S/C, and the extreme S-281 E. The base and supercharged models were available as coupes or convertibles, while the extreme model was only a coupe. All models had a Saleen Quick Ratio 5-speed manual transmission as standard, with an optional 5-speed automatic. The suspension featured MacPerson struts, stabilizer bars of 1.38 inches in the front and 0.79 inches in the rear, urethane pivot bushings, and a live rear axle. The standard wheels were 20x9 inches on all four corners, with an option to upgrade to 10-inch wide rear wheels.
