The sixth generation of the Mustang was launched in 2015, marking the 50th Anniversary of the iconic car. The design was completely new, but it also paid homage to the original and the modern Mustangs. Some of the features that reflected the Mustang heritage were: a trapezoidal grille with a honeycomb panel, round headlamps next to three vent features inset into a mean sweeping look case, a short hood cowl and a louvered/vented hood, recessed side panels, a long hood and a long sweeping fastback rear, and angled three pillar rear taillights.
The 2015 Mustang offered different engine options for different markets. The standard U.S. models had a 300hp 3.7L V6 or a 420hp 5.0L V8. There was also an optional 305hp 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder. The 2015 Mustang was available as a fastback or a convertible, and it was also sold in Europe for the first time since the 1965-79 T-5 Mustang.
The 2015 Mustang also had some special editions and limited runs. There was a 50th Anniversary Edition Special Mustang GT fastback, which came in either Wimbledon White or Kona Blue. There was also a GT-350R model, which commemorated the 1965 competition model, and only 37 units were built. Another limited run was the GT-350 fastback, which had 100 units produced.

EcoBoost Turbo
New to 2015, is the Ecoboost Turbo which has the 2.3L EcoBoost turbo 4-cylinder engine, 3.31 limited-slip rear axle, blade decklid body-colored spoiler, LED fog lamps, bright aluminum instrument panel, power front seats, active noise cancellation, and track apps all added to the Mustang V6 content. The Ecoboost Turbo is the entry level Mustang offered in Europe.
Mustang GT
The 2015 Mustang GT comes with the 420hp, all-aluminum block, 5.0 liter, V8 engine; 5.0 fender emblem; GT rear badge, fog lamps, and several others. Along with the 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine there is a 3.31:1 gear ratio with limited-slip rear differential, electronic line-lock (track use only), engine oil cooler, larger brake rotors with 4-piston calipers, launch control (manual transmission only), and optional selectable drive modes with a 4-gang toggle switch pack for Normal, Sport, Track, and Snow/Wet. There are 18 inch magnetic-painted machined aluminum wheels, dual bright rolled and polished exhaust tips, hood-vented air extractors, and raised blade-styled decklid spoiler. There is also a GT performance package option.
50th Anniversary
The 2015, 50th Anniversary Special Edition Mustang GT Coupe/Fastback is available in two exclusive exterior colors: Kona Blue or Wimbledon White. Just like the 1964 Mustang, Wimbledon White is an off white exterior paint, almost a cream color. Other features include special 50th Anniversary badges inside and out; chrome highlights for the grille, side glass and tri-bar tail lamps; louvered rear quarter-windows which are simulated with layers of glass; unique aluminum dash panel, cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel; similarly stitched instrument panel, shifter boot, center armrest, door inserts, seats, and floor mats; two-tone cashmere and black leather seats; and a Mustang 50 Year logo on the seat backs. The special edition comes standard with the Mustang GT performance pack which includes Brembo front brakes and Pirelli P-Zero tires. There are also 19-inch alloy wheels which are patterned off the steel styled sport wheels from 1964 through 1968; and a leather covered owners guide folder with 50th Anniversary badge.
Saleen Mustang
The 2015, Saleen Mustang is available in three upgrade levels a 450hp 302 White Label, 715hp 302 Yellow Label, and a 730hp 302 Black Label. The Black Label includes a completely redesigned front end with a longer hood, narrower grille, and cool lower splitters.
