Springtime Yellow 1965 Mustang hardtop owned by John Simmons from Victoria, Australia. This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting November 25, 2019. It has a 289ci V8 engine and an automatic transmission. John has owned the car for the last three years. He says that it's pretty standard, still LHD and drum brakes on the front. Take a look at this 1965 Rangoon Red fastback Mustang! It has been fully restored to look like it came fresh from the factory. It has the Optional 200hp 289ci V8 engine under the hood. This was one of the first 1965 Mustang fastbacks built after the early August 1964 plant shutdown for retooling. This car was the 10094th 1965 car built in San Jose.

Here is a view of the rear edge of the vents covering the rear 1/4 windows. They have little chrome inserts.
Under the hood is the optional C-code 289ci V8 engine.
The interior is white. Notice that the rear seats are folded away.

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is located on top of the fender under the hood on the driver's side. Let's decode it. 5 is for the 1965 model year. R is for the San Jose, California assembly plant. 09 is for the fastback body style. C is for the optional 200hp 289ci V8 engine. 135094 is the sequential unit number. Check out our 1965 VIN Decoder.
The Vehicle Certification Tag is found on the rear inside edge of the driver's side door. This one appears to be restored. The assembly date code is 12J indicating that this car was scheduled for assembly on the 12th of September, 1964, only one month after the production start of 1965 Mustangs.
