The 1989 LX 5.0L Sport included the 225hp 5.0L V8 engine, GT suspension (pressurized front struts and rear Quadra-shock), 14.7:1 constant ratio power rack-and-pinion steering, traction-lok axle, 5-speed manual transmission, 15x7 inch 10-hole cast aluminum wheels, performance radial tires, and the hatchback/convertible received articulated front bucket seats.

Starting in mid-April and running through the late 1990 model year, Ford placed 25th anniversary, tri-bar pony badges on the passenger side dash of all LX and GT Mustangs. It certainly was not a limited edition run of cars, but we feel it does deserve mentioning in the special model section of the 1989 Mustang.
