(1 photo of a 1965 Caspian Blue Mustang Hardtop) Check out this vintage photo taken in September 1964! That's Mike Mooney standing next to his new Caspian Blue 1965 Mustang hardtop. It had the big 289ci 271hp HiPo V8 engine and a manual transmission. This was taken outside the Patuxent River Naval Base while he was visiting his brother. Those look like dual redline tires! Look at the old cars in the background; not sure about the first one, second is a VW bug, third is a 65 LeMans or GTO.

Kerry lists the options; 289ci 4v 275hp 'A' code V8 engine (rebuilt), GT rocker panel stripes, GT grille-mounted fog lamps , GT dual chrome exhaust, trumpet exhaust tips thru rear valance, left-hand (driver-side) remote mirror, right-hand (passenger-side) mirror, 5-dial instrument dash, Rally-Pac instrumentation (clock and tach pods), Deluxe steering, wheel (wood), push button radio and antenna, Pony interior, electric top, factory air, center console, and Styled Steel wheels (V8).

The data plate of this car reads: 76B is the convertible, luxury body, Y is Silver Blue paint, 62 is blue & white luxury interior, 1 3.0:1 ratio standard axle, 6 C-4 3-speed automatic transmission, assembled in March of 65, and ordered in Charlotte.

The owner, J Olson, tells us more - "I built it with a 408 stroked Windsor engine, Edelbrock med rise intake, Lunati cam, roller rockers, Holley 4bbl carb, JBA headers, Griffin aluminum radiator, T-5 trans, alum driveshaft, Currie 9" rear with 4:11 gears posi, 4 wheel disc brakes, stock black interior with Rally Pac. The engine puts out about 500hp and is a blast to drive! "

IT was built one month after they started offering the GT package."

This is our featured Attitude Of The Week for the week starting October 14, 2012. He purchased the Mustang in July of 2000 and got it back onto the road in October 2012. It was originally Caspian Blue with a white interior (Blue Appointments). It is now Deep Blue Metallic with a white interior (Black trim). It's original engine was a - 289 V-8 2 bbl. with C-4 trans, and 8-inch rear. It now has a 347 Stroker, Holley 650 Dbl Pmpr, C-4, 8-inch rear with 4 wheel disc brakes, and Magnaflow dual exhaust.

The car has a bit over 26,000 miles on the clock and has had only one repaint. The Ragoon Red 1965 Mustang hardtop is Eddie's as well.

The door data tag reads 63A fastback body style, 5 Twilight Turquoise exterior color, 76 black interior trim, 21A assembled on January 21, 1965, 15 ordered in the Newark area, 6 3.50:1 rear axle ratio, and 6 dual range C4 automatic transmission.

It is a pre-GT with a build date of March 17th, 1965, just days before the launch of the GT with a full load of options including the Luxury Pony interior, rally pac and console. Several original factory paint markings are still visible. All original metal, 95% original interior including seats. (carpet and lower kicks changed)"

This 1965 Mustang GT has the c-code, 195hp 289ci V8 under the hood, has the blue vinyl with blue trim, and GT fender badge with low side stripe. Brian and his family have owned the car since 2008 but followed the car's history since 1977. It was repainted prior to 1977. The original paint color is unknown but due to the name of the promotion, we believe it to have been red, white, blue or some combination. We have some information from a possible other Dallas Red White and Blue that the blue was 1965 Ford Truck Marlin blue M1742.
