(from page 1 of the 1969 Collection) The spoiler is a real Judge spoiler. It was Carousel Red (orange) under the paint. The rear bumper has been rechromed. The gas tank cap is under the license plate. Those are reproduction 1969 GTO chrome tailpipe extensions. The chrome trim pieces behind the rear tires on the fenders were only placed on early 1969 GTOs.

(from page 1 of the 1969 Collection) Under the hood is it's original 400ci engine. It was rated at 350 horsepower.

(from page 23 of the 1969 Collection) Check out this Boss 429. Steve bought it from his cousin after selling his 1968 Torino 390 Convertible and 1969 Fairlane Cobra.

(from page 24 of the 1969 Collection) Here is a super rare Mustang. It's a Silver Jade 1969 Mustang E' fastback owned by Tim and Barb Wise from Springfield, Illinois. 96 of these were made for the Mobilgas Economy Run, but only 50 were ever sold. Tim tells us more, "My wife and I restored this car in our home garage. Six years in the making. Every nut and bolt came out and was restored or replaced. We did a concours build. Everything is totally correct as it left Ford. All work done in our home garage minus engine and trans rebuilds. Bodywork including paint all done at home."

(from page 24 of the 1969 Collection) On the rear fender is the Mustang 'E' decal. Tim and Barb know a lot about the Mustang E. They provided the research for the Mustang E in our Mustang Special Editions book. This car was produced for the coast-to-coast Mobil Economy Run sponsored by the Mobil Oil Corporation and operated by the USAC (US Auto Club). It was a 6-day race for fuel efficiency (mostly) from Los Angeles to New York City. The Mustang E finished 3rd in 1968, after ending the race early in Indianapolis after the death of Martin Luther King Jr.

(from page 24 of the 1969 Collection) Here is an even closer close-up of the Mustang E decal.

(from page 24 of the 1969 Collection) The heart of the Mustang E was this L-code 250ci 6-cylinder engine. The Mustang E also had the F-code (2.33) rear end, C4 automatic transmission, and a 1-inch larger torque converter. The cars did not have air conditioning.

(from page 31 of the 1969 Collection) This is a Pastel Gray 1969 Mustang Shelby GT-500 coupe with blue stripes and a black interior. Pastel Gray is also known as a shade of white. Under the hood is a 428 Cobra Jet engine.

(from page 31 of the 1969 Collection) Pastel Gray 1969 Mustang Shelby GT-500 coupe, left front view. Those are unique Shelby only wheels. Look at all those holes in the hood. There are five total holes in the hood.

(from page 31 of the 1969 Collection) Pastel Gray 1969 Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe, right rear view.

(from page 31 of the 1969 Collection) Here's that big 428 Cobra Jet engine that is under the hood of this GT500.

(from page 32 of the 1969 Collection) The interior is black. The carpet has red rubber inserts.

(from page 32 of the 1969 Collection) The center console houses extra oil and alternator gauges. This one has a push-button AM radio.

(from page 32 of the 1969 Collection) The four-point seat belt harness is actually tied into the roll bar!

(from page 32 of the 1969 Collection) Check out the special Cobra seat belts!

(from page 32 of the 1969 Collection) This dataplate is found on the rear edge of the driver's side door. It says D5 for the paint color. So it was originally Acapulco Blue (code D) with a blacked-out hood (the number 5 after the D).

(from page 33 of the 1969 Collection) Take a look at this black and orange 1969 Mustang hardtop. There is a silver stripe between the two paint colors. It has a black vinyl top.

(from page 33 of the 1969 Collection) Check out the hood mounted tach. It was a rare option for 1969.

(from page 33 of the 1969 Collection) There is a special Mustang and running horse graphic on the rear quarter panel. We have a close-up in this photo set.

(from page 33 of the 1969 Collection) A hood tach was a rare option for 1969. Does anyone know if this is what the vintage one looked like? The housing seems to have the correct shape.
