This is the official results of the 1966 Mobil Economy Run held from March 14-20 from LA to Boston. The Mustang came in 2nd place of the Class "B" large-engine compact. This specific ad was placed in the March 31st edition of the Wisconsin State Journal.

This is the official results of the 1965 Mobil Economy Run held April 5-11 and raced from LA to New York. Unfortunately the Mustang was not entered into this competition. There is a photo of the race meeting a train shipment of Mustangs on the road. This ad was placed in the April 20th edition of the Syracuse Post Standard.

This is the official results of the 1964 Mobil Economy Run which tested fuel economy and comfort on a race from Los Angeles to New York City. Although the Mustang was available for the race, it did not compete. This ad was placed in the April 10th edition of the Delaware County Daily Times.

Color me Groovy Green! Color Me Flower Power Red! This is a newspaper advertisement we found for the 1969 Limited Edition 600 Mustang which came as a specially equipped sportsroof in Groovy Green or Flower Power red. The sale was limited to the Pennsylvania area. Five participating dealerships in the Pennsylvania area are listed: Countryside Motors of Springfield PA, Murphy Ford of Chester PA, Myers Motors of Linwood PA, Walsh Ford of Media PA, and Robin Ford of Glenolden PA. This ad was in the May 22nd, 1969 edition of the Delaware County Daily Times of Chester, Pennsylvania. In a similar ad in the May 22nd 1969 edition of the Lebanon Daily News of Lebanon, Pennsylvania: Keller Brothers Motors and R &J Motors both of Lebanon PA are listed.

This is an early example of a series of National Pop Option advertisements enticed new and existing Mustang owners to buy a car with popular options at a special price. This ad shows Pop-Options such as wheel covers, rim blow steering wheel, vinyl interior, body side moldings, whitewall tires, V8 tinted glass, and air conditioning. This ad was placed by Van Steen Motors in the January 2nd, 1969, edition of the Appleton Post-Crescent of Appleton, Wisconsin.

The Pop Option sale included Fairlanes at this dealership. This ad was placed in the January 23rd, 1969, edition of The Ohio Country Times News of Hartford - Beaver Dam. Kentucky.

This ad was placed in the February 11, 1969 edition of The Daily Times of Salisbury, Maryland.

The Pop-Options are listed as those from the Sports Appearance Group which includes hood scoop, wide oval whitewall tires, wheel covers, and racing mirrors. This is added to a White 1969 Mustang hardtop with six cylinder engine, standard transmission, power steering, radio, and heater. This ad also shows a "Pop" musical group which of course was popular at the time. We found this ad in the February 24th, 1969, edition of The Post-Star of Glens Falls, New York.

Featured drivers are Hubert Platt and Randy Payne in the eastern United States (blue cars), and Ed Terry and Richard Wood in the west (white cars). These performance cars inspired the 1969 The Going Thing special edition Mustang.

Charles Gabus Ford in Des Moines, Iowa had a bran new 1970 Mustang Sidewinder on their lot! It was advertised as having a 351ci 4V engine, power steering, competition suspension, traction lock differential, and a shaker hood scoop. This ad is from the January 1, 1971 edition of the Des Moines Register. They had it discounted to $3237.00 from $3685.70. That's a 12% discount! Someone got a great deal! Charles Gabus Ford was running a sale to reduce inventory on their 1970 models.
